Get to know Jenni

Hometown: Palatine, IL

Tell us who is in your family: My husband (Andrew), Dylan (5), Annie (2.5), Woodson (Dog), and due in July with my 3rd.

Current/Previous Career: Elementary School Social Worker

What was your childhood ambition? I always wanted to work in a school when I was a kid and I still love doing that now!

What does motherhood mean to you? To me, motherhood means always being present for my kids and family in whatever way I can. It also means showing my kids that they can always be themselves and follow any passion that they want. I make sure my kids know that family time is so important and that I will always be there for them no matter what.

What is the farthest you have been away from home? My husband and I traveled to Ireland right before we had kids. We would love to go back there one day!

How did you find FIT4MOM DuPage County? My good friend worked out with a FIT4MOM franchise in Chicago after having her baby and told me how great it was. A soon as I had my son, I googled if there was a location in Wheaton.

How has FIT4MOM DuPage County changed your life? It has helped me find a place that I can workout postpartum and beyond. It also have helped me to feel more like myself during pregnancy and after pregnancy. I also have enjoying getting to know other mom's in the community since I moved to Wheaton right before having my son and didn't know any one in the area.

Favorite exercise: Anything cardio!

Proudest Moment: My proudest moment was when I ran the Chicago Marathon 14 months after having my daughter. It was a challenge to work around the kids schedule and my work schedule. I would wake up and get in hour long runs before work and pump before every long run. I even had to pump on the morning of the marathon. However, the look on my kids face when they saw me at the finish line is something I will never forget. My daughter also says she wants to be a runner like mommy one day!

What is one thing you have learned so far from this year? This year has been a very challenging year for my family and I have learned that everything happens for a reason.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us!: I ran a marathon when I was 7 weeks pregnant with Dylan. We like to tell him that he has already run a marathon.
