Get to Know Amy
Hometown: La Grange, Illinois
Tell us who is in your family: My husband Mike, Sophie (10 months old) and our dog Cory (3 years old).
Current/Previous Career: I started out as a hairstylist while I continued to go to school to become a teacher. I was a special education teacher for 5 years before taking this year off to be with Sophie! Next year I will be back to it!
What was your childhood ambition? I have always loved working with kids, but I also went through a phase where I wanted to be a CSI! Which is SO not my personality now!
What does motherhood mean to you? Unconditional love- It has been the most special experience this past year from becoming a mother to truly understand what that phrase means. Of course it is challenging, but I have learned so much from my tiny human!
What is the farthest you have been away from home? We went to Hawaii for our Honeymoon! But I hope to get to go to Poland soon which is where my husband was born!
How did you find FIT4MOM DuPage County? We have a friend who was a FIT4MOM coach in another location and recommended it to me!
How has FIT4MOM DuPage County changed your life? It has given me a network of amazing women who are all in a similar season of their lives to have as a support system. It has allowed me to be active in a way that benefits both me and Sophie, and that exercise CAN be fun and games!
Favorite exercise: My favorite exercise is when we do biceps and triceps with the bands!
Proudest Moment: My proudest moment was having Sophie!
What is one thing you have learned so far from this year? I am learning that the things that are most important to me are so much more valuable than a bigger salary!
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us!: Aww man I gave it away earlier- I am a cosmetologist and did hair before becoming a teacher!
