Meet our January 2023 - Mom of the Month!

Congratulations to Ashley, our first Mom of the Month for 2023!

If you have attended a mommy & me or mom only class in the past 6 weeks, then I'm sure you've met this mama! Ashley is such a welcoming and friendly person and is always there to strike up a conversation with you!

We are so lucky to have her a part of Our Village!

Get to know Ashley

Hometown: Villa Park

Tell us who is in your family: Husband, Matt and Daughter, Reese Rebekah

Current/Previous Career: High School Counselor

What was your childhood ambition? To be a newscaster or an interior designer

What does motherhood mean to you? Many things: a greater purpose, unconditional love like no other, opportunity to learn and grow, to be challenged. So far (#newmom) it has been the BEST season of my life.

What is the farthest you have been away from home? Summer 2019- Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia! Highly recommend

How did you find FIT4MOM DuPage County? In the summers (2019? 2020?), running along the great western trail behind Ackerman, I’d see what I now know is a Karen’s Strides 360 class and would think, “that looks like so much fun, but I think I need a baby to join”! So when we finally got pregnant in 2022, I emailed Kristin and the rest is history!

How has FIT4MOM DuPage County changed your life? I’ve been a mom for almost exactly 13 weeks now and can say that the most surprising thing about motherhood has been the unconditional and immediate support of other women in motherhood. Mom are amazing and FIT4MOM has been a huge source of that mother to mother support that has been genuine, immediate and down to earth. I mean I love working out, too, but the support in this new role of “mom” from mamas has been truly incredible.

Favorite exercise: I’m a marathon runner and cross country coach….so running! BUT I LOVE when a move will wake up a muscle group that running can’t access.

Proudest Moment: Giving birth to Reese. The human body is insane!

What is one thing you have learned so far from this year? Slowing down to enjoy the ordinary things is when life “happens” the most. So SLOW DOWN and enjoy the ordinary because it’s actually the extraordinary. 😊

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us!: I’m a hustler - I have been a cleaning lady, private home chef, and caterer on the side over the course of my professional career as a school counselor. I love scenarios that are fast paced, team-oriented and that satisfy my type A tendencies!
