Family Friendly Activities in DuPage County

As July is wrapping up, the summer heat is still high even though the school season is on the horizon. We are fortunate enough to live in an area with a plethora of activities for kids of all ages to enjoy this summer. Here’s some of our family favorites:

  • The Children’s Garden at The Morton Arboretum (they have mini golf until Labor Day!) - This one is easily a family favorite. The Children’s Garden is full of things to explore and summer fun. The stream for water play, lots of learning and exploring, play areas and treehouses. My children could easily spend all day playing. The arboretum also has beautiful sculptures and art throughout. It is also home to my favorite running paths in the area! There are so many possibilities while surrounded by the beauties of nature. (Lisle)

  • Maryknoll Park - This is an easy local and free area. You can play in the park of cool off with the Splash Pad on a hot day. (Glen Ellyn)
  • Cantigny Park - Did you get a chance to join our group for a stroller class at Cantigny yet? It is a unique and gorgeous location. Cantigny itself always has the cannons (which the kids love!), museum, gardens and golf. Although summer is winding down, there are still lots of upcoming festivities, check out their calendars! (Wheaton)
  • Cosley Zoo - If you’re looking for some animal fun without making the trek to Brookfield or Lincoln Park, Cosley Zoo is the space for you! There are animals of all kinds that the kids will love and space to play. (Wheaton)
  • Lombard Cruise Nights & Summer Concerts - My kids love to play outside on a beautiful summer night while listening to music in a casual setting. Check out your local town events for these kinds of things throughout the summer. (Lombard)
  • Kline Creek Farm - Kline Creek Farm will take you back in time a bit. This is a 19th century farm setup, but the beauty of places like this is that the kids are having fun and learning at the same time. (Wheaton)

As a whole, the DuPage County Forest Preserve has many great locations and options. When they’re through the forest preserve, many are also budget friendly! However you want to fill the end of your summer, always make sure you take care of you - and watch that FIT4MOM email for fun playgroups, mom’s nights outs and events all year round! 😊
