Meet Our November 2016 - Mom of the Month

Our November Mom of the Month is Michelle Farmer. Michelle has been a FIT4MOM Glen Ellyn / Wheaton client for 8 months. She joined our classes after being referred by a friend when her youngest daughter was about 3 months old. She rocks our our classes with a positive attitude a commitment to being a healthy mom. She loves showing her kiddos what it means to be happy and fit too! Congrats Michelle! We are so happy you're part of Our Village.

  • Hometown: Park Ridge, IL
  • Tell us about who is in your family: My little family is husband (Jason), three kiddos (Danny-8, Emma-6, Charlotte-1!) and our dog (Cooper, a mini-golden doodle)
  • Current/Previous career: I am a project manager/process improvement specialist at PwC (very exciting!)
  • What was your childhood ambition? I always wanted to be a doctor (which I obviously am not). :)
  • What does motherhood mean to you? This is a hard one! Motherhood is the single hardest thing I've ever done in my life. It is extremely frustrating at times, but yet rewarding in a way that is unparalleled by any other experience I've had before. It means trying everyday to balance "myself" with raising these kids to be independent and kind little people, and doing that all with a schedule that leaves me exhausted at the end of every day!
  • What is the furthest you have been away from home? I've been to Europe several times and during one of those trips we spent some time in Munich, which is probably technically the furthest I've been from home (I had to pull up a map to answer this question). :) I backpacked through Europe with two of my college roommates, and during that time we spent a few days wandering around the streets of Munich. My favorite part was a bike tour with German steins at every stop.
  • How did you find FIT4MOM? My BB friends have heard this multiple times now, but I have a huge fear of group exercise classes! I had an extra long maternity leave with Charlotte, and frankly I was sick of feeling so unhealthy and grossly lacking energy. I posted something in an Elmhurst Moms group seeking out stroller exercise classes, and a mutual friend led me to Lesley (who also happens to be my neighbor!) I'm finishing up my third round of Body Back and was super excited to start the Saturday Stroller Strides, so I could still exercise with my kiddos post returning to work!
  • How as FIT4MOM changed your life? F4M has helped me cure my fear of group exercise classes to start. :) Body Back and all of the wonderful instructors have been life changing. It's a wonderful feeling to have to buy new pants because your old ones are actually too big, but more importantly, it's wonderful to feel confident and healthy in my own skin! I also love the example of a healthy lifestyle that this is bringing to my family.
  • Favorite exercise: Super moms
  • Proudest moment: I'm getting close to being able to keep up in Emily's Body Back Boost classes!
  • Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: My great grandma was on the Titanic (she survived). :)
