Meet our June 2016 - Mom of the Month

We are so excited to announce Laura as our MOM of the Month for June! Laura joined our FIT4MOM franchise 2 years ago this month. She's been an active member of our Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and now Fit4Baby classes. Her son, Elliot, sings the smile song with us after every class and has formed strong friendships with his Stroller buddies. :) We can't wait to welcome baby #2 into Our Village soon!

  • Hometown: Farmington Hills, Michigan.
  • Tell us about who is in your family: My husband Joey, son Elliot who just turned 3, and baby #2 will be arriving in July
  • Current/Previous career: I'm a nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • What was your childhood ambition? When I was little I wanted to be a preschool teacher, but discovered nursing in high school and knew it was for me
  • What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood means everything. I always wanted to be a mom. It is by far the hardest yet most rewarding thing I've ever embarked on. Having Elliot say I love you, or come give me a hug and cuddle for no reason melts my heart and I wouldn't trade it for the world
  • What is the furthest you have been away from home? I studied abroad in London, England in college. But we did a weekend trip to Paris, which I think might technically be further away
  • How did you find FIT4MOM? Through facebook I found out about the Wheaton grand opening class now almost 2 years ago. I had been wanting to try to get back into working out so I went to try it out and ended up signing up that day
  • How as FIT4MOM changed your life? F4M has changed my life in so many ways for the better. Not only do I feel better and love getting to work out again, but the village and friendships I've formed have really made me feel I belong somewhere. Having no family in Illinois and moving to the suburbs leaving my friends in the city I felt really alone. Now not only do I have an amazing group of moms I know I can go to with anything be it advice or help in a bind, but seeing people I know when I'm out at random places running errands makes me feel at home.
  • Favorite exercise: Anything abs or legs
  • Proudest moment: Passing my nursing board exam. Hardest test I've ever taken in my life.
  • Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I'm a musical junkie. Yet more than even seeing them on stage, I love listening to the soundtracks and singing along (although I'm sure not well) when I'm in the car by myself.
