Stroller-based Classes FAQ

This includes both Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre.

What should I bring to a Stroller Strides or Stroller Barre class?

  • Any stroller will work except for an umbrella stroller
  • Water bottle and snacks for you and your child(ren)
  • Yoga mat, blanket or towel for abdominal work
  • Comfortable athletic shoes and clothes you can layer since temperatures can vary if we're outside
  • Sunblock/gear for you and your children if we're outside
  • Small toys for your child(ren) (don't worry we sing a lot & move but just in case) ;)
  • Resistance bands (once you're registered; if you are trying a class for the first time, we'll supply them)

What is a stroller-based exercise class like?

You get a challenging workout that you can do with your child in tow. The best way we can think of to explain it is this mom's story about her expectations vs. reality.

What is the difference between Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre?

Both are workouts that Moms can do WITH their babies/children. Both also include nationally certified pre and postnatal instructors who weave songs and activities into the routine designed to engage and entertain baby while Mom is led through a workout specific to her role as Mom.

Stroller Strides® includes power walking/jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercise using exercise tubing, your stroller, and the environment.

Stroller Barre® is a unique blend of ballet, Pilates, barre, yoga and stroller-based exercises incorporated with everything our moms love about Stroller Strides®.

How long are the workouts?

The workouts are an hour long unless otherwise noted. This includes a warm up (about 5 minutes), a work out (about 45 minutes), and abs and stretching (about 10 minutes).

How old does my child have to be?

We recommend waiting until you have medical clearance from your physician (normally this is 6 weeks postpartum). Children can attend classes up to any age so long as they still enjoy a ride in the stroller and can be safely buckled in. Always get your doctor's permission before starting this or any other kind of exercise program.

What do I do if my child gets fussy during class?

First of all, don't worry about it! We're all Moms, and we've all been there.

Our priority is your child's well-being. Tend to your baby first. This includes feeding your baby, giving your child a snack, giving your child a toy, or just walking them around. You can always catch up with us if you get behind. Our instructors will do their very best to make the class enjoyable for everyone involved (moms and kids).

What if I have diastasi recti?

If you have it, or think you may, it is ok. Our instructors are certified in pre and post natal exercise and can help you a) determine if you have it and b) show you modifications to exercise safely if you do. As always, though, you should get doctor's approval before beginning this or any other exercise program. For more information about the condition, see this PDF.
