Kimberly's Body Back Journey - Weeks 5-6

One of my biggest goals when starting the FIT4MOM program was not a fitness goal. Outside of getting heathy I desperately wanted to create more balance in my life. Let me be real honest… When I started this program, I didn’t know what I was talking about. And I didn’t know how I was going to go about creating more balance in my life. And then over the course of the last two weeks I got real with myself.

Over the last two weeks, I’ve needed 35-plus hours in each and every day just to get anything done – but not to do anything great. Most tasks have been a struggle; emotionally, physically and mentally.

I get it. I’m not the first woman to have a baby, a husband, a career, social responsibilities or even a panic attack. I’m not the first woman to raise her own personal expectations so high that it hurts to breathe sometimes. I have a full-blown obsession with doing things right and that includes being a good spouse and mother.

You might have noticed that I took a week off from blogging. I also took a Wednesday off from Body Back. I was upset at first that I was missing class but deep down inside I knew I needed to take that time and commit myself, my energy and my focus to my husband (Mitch). It would be the first time in months we would spend waking hours in public together; just the two of us. Just two happy adults. We caught up on all things “us”. We had fun, together. We enjoyed spending time together.

Mitch has played a really important part in making the last 6 weeks of FIT4MOM such a success. He always helps plan the week’s meals, grocery lists, and encourages me to keep with the exercise plan. Mitch has made it home from his new job in the city early every Wednesday to juggle our daughter’s dinner, playtime, bath and bedtime so I can attend class. He’s conquered breakfast and swim lessons every Saturday morning by himself. I know these things are no easy tasks!

When we’re meditating at class and saying “the best thing I ever did was believe in me” The thing I’m actually saying is, “the best thing I ever did was believe in us.”

Thanks Mitchell for making each and every day possible and a lot more enjoyable! Without you my days would not be nearly as meaningful.
